Monocrystalline silicon (Mono-Si) photovoltaic modules are composed of multiple monocrystalline silicon solar cells, each of which is covered with transparent anti-reflective glass and supported and protected by an aluminum frame. It is the most efficient and longest-lasting mainstream solar cell module type on the market, and is widely used in rooftop photovoltaics, large ground power stations and high-value projects.
1. Basic structure
Monocrystalline silicon modules are composed of multiple monocrystalline silicon solar cells connected in series/parallel and encapsulated in a protective layer.
The main structure includes:
Cell: PN junction semiconductor made of monocrystalline silicon (usually P-type or N-type).
Glass layer: Highly transparent tempered glass to protect the cell and enhance light absorption.
EVA film: Ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, bonding the cell to the glass/backboard.
Backboard: TPT (Tedlar-PET-Tedlar) or transparent backboard (double glass module), moisture-proof insulation.
Aluminum frame: Enhance structural strength and facilitate installation.
Junction box: Encapsulate diodes to prevent hot spot effect.
2. Manufacturing process
A. Monocrystalline silicon rod growth (mainly CZ method)
B. Silicon wafer cutting
C. Cell manufacturing (PERC/TOPCon/HJT technology)
D. Module packaging
In the next article, we will introduce the core advantages and market applications of monocrystalline silicon modules, so stay tuned.
