Glass can be classified according to its function and methods into the following types:
1. Tempered Glass
A. After being heated and rapidly cooled, its strength is 3 to 5 times that of ordinary glass. When broken, it forms blunt-angle small particles and is not likely to cause injury.
B. Applications: Building facades, shower rooms, car windshields, and home appliance panels.
2. Laminated Glass (Laminated Safety Glass)
A. Two or more layers of glass are sandwiched between a PVB film, which prevents fragments from scattering upon breakage.
B. Features: Safe, soundproof, anti-theft, bulletproof basic material.
C. Applications: Glass for high-rise buildings, car windshields, bank security glass.
3. Insulated Glass
A. An air or inert gas layer is sealed between two pieces of glass.
B. Features: Heat insulation, sound insulation, and prevention of condensation.
C. Applications: Energy-saving doors and windows, curtain walls, cold storage windows.
4. Coated Glass
A. Applying metal or compound film layers on the surface of the glass.
B. Heat reflection coating: Energy-saving and insulation, used for building exteriors.
C. Low-E coating: Energy-saving and heat retention, reducing heat loss.
D. Conductive coating: Used in touch screens and heated glass.
5. Fire-resistant Glass
A. It can maintain its integrity during a fire, blocking flames and high temperatures.
B. Applications: Fire escape routes, fire barriers, computer room glass.
6. Bulletproof Glass
A. Composed of multiple layers of glass and films, it can withstand gunshots.
B. Applications: Bank counters, armored vehicles, important security areas.
7. Sanded/Blurred/Blistered Glass
A. Rough surface, not transparent through.
B. Applications: Bathroom, office partitions, decorative glass.
8. Colored Glazed Glass (Screen Printing Glass)
A. The surface is coated with high-temperature glaze, ensuring long-lasting and non-fading colors.
B. Applications: Curtain wall decoration, household appliance glass, sign glass.
9. Heat-bent Glass
A. It is formed by heating and bending, presenting an arc shape or a spherical shape.
B. Applications: Automotive glass, curved curtain walls, sightseeing elevators.
10. Microcrystalline Glass
A. The glass undergoes crystallization treatment, resulting in the presence of tiny crystals within.
B. Features: High strength, high temperature resistance, wear resistance.
C. Applications: Induction cooker panels, exterior wall decoration, military components.
