What is the manufacturing process of photovoltaic tempered glass?

Aug 06, 2025

1. The manufacturing process of photovoltaic tempered glass
A. Raw material selection
a. Ultra-clear glass (low-iron glass): Iron content ≤0.015%, reduces light absorption and increases light transmittance.
b. Ordinary float glass: It has a relatively low cost, but its light transmittance is slightly lower.
B. Tempering treatment
a. Physical tempering: Heat to around 700℃ and then rapidly cool to form surface compressive stress.
b. Chemical tempering: Suitable for thin glass (<2mm), it enhances strength through ion exchange.
C. Coating treatment
a. Anti-reflection coating (AR coating): Reduces light reflection loss and increases light transmittance by 1.5%-3%.
b. Self-cleaning coating: Reduces dust adhesion and lowers maintenance costs.

2. Classification of Photovoltaic Tempered Glass
A. Thickness
a. Mainstream thickness of traditional single-glass modules
b. Common photovoltaic modules
B. Tempering method
a. Fully tempered; high strength; granular after crushing; conventional photovoltaic modules
b. Semi-tempered: Slightly lower impact resistance, but lower self-explosion rate; double-glass components, building integration (BIPV)
