Poland Increases Subsidy Levels For Rooftop PV And Energy Storage Systems

Dec 22, 2022

The Polish government recently stated that it will increase the level of subsidies for rooftop photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems for households in the country.

From December 15th, the subsidy for household users' rooftop photovoltaic systems will increase from PLN 4,000 to PLN 6,000, and the subsidy for energy storage systems will increase from PLN 7,500 to PLN 16,000. twice as much. The plan is applicable to rooftop photovoltaic projects of 2 to 10kW and energy storage systems of 2kWh. As of the end of August this year, the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaic systems in Poland reached 11GW.

Under the scheme, households can submit applications under an agreement that provides for the supply of electricity generated by rooftop photovoltaic systems to the grid. Since the program’s launch in 2019, more than PLN 1.7 billion has been subsidized for 411,494 rooftop PV projects in the country.

The total funding of the program is 5.34 billion zlotys, and it is committed to providing subsidies for users who install rooftop photovoltaic and energy storage systems. The third and fourth editions of the program (from 2021 to 2023) have already provided PLN 855 million. The increase in this subsidy level is intended to strengthen Poland's energy security during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

“The development of renewable energy is a good way to deal with rising energy prices,” Polish climate minister Anna Moskwa Moskwa said on Twitter.
