A survey report called "Solar Means Business 2022" released by the Photovoltaic Industry Association (SEIA) recently shows that, led by technology giants and retailers, American companies are committed to installing more photovoltaic systems to provide electricity for their businesses. Accounting for 14% of all installed PV capacity in the United States.
As of June 2022, U.S. companies have installed nearly 19GW of photovoltaic systems, double the 9.4GW installed as of 2019. The survey report pointed out that the recent rapid growth is due to the rapid expansion of the scale of corporate procurement of off-site photovoltaic systems, which now account for 55% of all commercial photovoltaic systems installed.
Abigail Ross Hopper, President and CEO of the Photovoltaic Industry Association (SEIA), said: "About half of all enterprise PV systems were installed in the past two and a half years. Commercial PV systems emphasize the flexibility of their installation."
The report tracks photovoltaic systems installed by more than 47,000 businesses in the United States that generate enough electricity to power 3.2 million homes.
Additionally, the report tracks commercial PV projects paired with battery storage systems, which is especially helpful for businesses providing essential services or providing critical information or data infrastructure. It is estimated that in the next three years, the total installed capacity of commercial photovoltaic systems in the United States will double again, and by 2025, nearly 27GW of off-site enterprise photovoltaic projects will be put into operation.
